All applicants must:
- Complete the online, centralized application on the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship on RF-PTCAS website.
- Be eligible for and obtain licensure as a physical therapist in Maryland.
- Hold a current CPR certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Application Fee
All applicants pay a centralized application fee directly to RF-PTCAS. In addition, the supplemental, non-refundable JHH application fee is $50.
Admission Requirements
1) Education Requirements
Graduation from a CAPTE-accredited, entry-level physical therapist degree program prior to matriculation into the residency program.
2) Curriculum Vitae
Include a current copy of your CV.
3) Recommendations
Three professional letters of recommendation are required, which must include a letter from:
- A practicing physical therapist
- A faculty member from the applicant’s PT degree program
4) Official Transcripts
Please submit an official transcript from the school from which your physical therapy degree was conferred. Additional information is located in the RF-PTCAS application.
5) Personal Statement
Compose a narrative describing your reasons for applying to the JHH/GW Orthopedic Residency program, including your academic objectives, career goals, and related qualifications, including relevant collegiate, professional, and community activities. Consider the following questions in developing your response:
- Why have you chosen to apply to the JHH/GW Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency program?
- How do you believe this program will facilitate the accomplishment of your professional goals?
- What challenges do you anticipate with your involvement in this residency program?
6) Interview
Qualified candidates will be selected to interview for the JHH/GW Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency. The interview process is designed to evaluate selected candidate's match to the JHH/GW mission, and his or her understanding of the role of physical therapy in today's health care environment. The interview occurs in-person on the JHH campus in February.
