DPT Program Outcomes

The Doctor of Physical Therapy program at The George Washington University is committed to the success of its students, which is demonstrated by its excellent outcome metrics.

There are a variety of outcome measures that the program uses to assess success. The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) has identified three of these measures:

  • Admissions Acceptance Rate
  • DPT Graduation Rate
  • NPTE Pass Rate

All accredited physical therapy programs must make these metrics public.

Admissions Acceptance Rate

Acceptance: 42.5% of applicants were accepted.

DPT Graduation Rate

The 2-year graduation rate weighted average for years 2022-2023 is 97.8%. 

The graduation rate, as defined by CAPTE, represents the percentage of students who began the professional phase of the program and graduated within 150% of the expected time of degree receipt.

National PT Licensure Exam (NPTE) Eligibility 

The program has determined that its curriculum meets the state educational requirements for licensure or certification in all U.S. states, the District of Colombia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, secondary to its accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), based on the following:  
 
CAPTE accreditation as a physical therapist program satisfies state educational requirements in all U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Thus, students graduating from CAPTE-accredited physical therapist education programs are eligible to take the National Physical Therapy Examination and apply for licensure in all U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. National PT Licensure Exam (NPTE) Pass Rate

Graduates of all accredited physical therapist education programs must pass the national physical therapy exam (NPTE) to become licensed to practice physical therapy in the United States. Information regarding pass rates for US-accredited programs is available on the FSBPT website. 

For more than ten years, 100% of graduates of the George Washington University DPT Program passed the NPTE.

  • The 2-year NPTE ultimate pass rate weighted average for years 2023-2024 is 100%
  • The 2-year NPTE first-time pass rate weighted average for years 2023-2024 is 96.6%.

DPT Employment Rate

  • The 2-year employment rate weighted average for years 2020-2023 is 100%.
